Q. Is Erectile Dysfunction just
a part of old age?
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is more
common in men over 40 years; however
it does not necessarily have to be a
part of getting older.
The fact is that ED is very
common, and it occurs for various
reasons in different age groups.
In young men, ED is
mainly due to psychological reasons.
The most frequent cause of ED is
anxiety - particularly nervousness
of having sexual intercourse,
perhaps because of:
In middle aged men,
more than 50% of men by the age of
40 have experienced a temporary form
of ED by difficulty in achieving or
maintaining an erection. Further, 5%
of men at this age suffer from
chronic ED or impotence, a condition
that has the potential to cause
emotional turmoil and destroy
intimate relationships.
The common causes in this age
group are:
In post-middle aged
men, ED is common and sexual
function sharply decreases after age
50. Physical factors underlie
perhaps 90% of cases of persistent
ED in men older than 50 years.
As you get older, you may need
more stimulation to get an erection.
But older men should still be able
to get an erection and enjoy sexual
intercourse.

Q. How do I know if i have ED and
what can I do about it?
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is the
inability of a man to achieve or
maintain erection sufficient enough
for his sexual needs or the needs of
his partner. In most cases, erection
will not improve without treatment.
Your doctor will determine which
tests are right for you.
ED is treated depending on what
is causing it. There are broadly 2
types of treatment:
Non-surgical treatments include
psychological treatment such as
counseling, and oral medications
such as ATLAGRA.
After your doctor checks you for
medical problems that might cause
erectile dysfunction, he may have
you try ATLAGRA to
help you with it. It helps men with
ED achieve and maintain harder
erections for better sexual
intercourse with their partner.

Q. How is ATLAGRA better than
other treatment of ED?
There are broadly 2 types of
treatment:
- Non-surgical
Non-surgical treatments include
psychological treatment such as
counselling, and oral medications
such as ATLAGRA.
A significant number of men
develop impotence from
psychological causes that can be
overcome such as tension, sexual
communication and self
consciousness. When a
psychological cause is being
treated, self-esteem problems may
continue to impair normal function
and performance.
Psychological therapy may be
effective in conjunction with
medical treatment. Sex therapists
emphasize the need for couples to
have realistic expectations from
sex, and to be motivated and
willing to adapt to psychological
and behavioral modifications,
including those that result from
medical treatment.
After your doctor checks you
for medical problems that might
cause erectile dysfunction, he may
prescribe ATLAGRA to
help you with it. It helps men
with ED achieve and maintain
harder erections for better sexual
intercourse with their partner.
- Surgical
Your doctor may suggest surgery
to treat erectile dysfunction only
if other forms of therapy are not
satisfactory.
Surgery is almost never
recommended for patients under the
age of 40. The only exception
would be for the small number of
men who have experience a
traumatic injury which is having a
negative effect on the flow of
blood to the penis.
Penile implants and vascular
surgery can be undertaken to treat
ED

Q. How should I take ATLAGRA?
Once prescribed by your
doctor, take one tablet with a glass
of water preferably one hour before
intended sexual activity.
To get the fastest and best
results, take ATLAGRA on an empty

meal.
Do not take more than one tablet
within a 24 hour time period.
If your first dose of ATLAGRA
does not help, call your doctor
again.

Q. How long will it take for
ATLAGRA to work? Also, for how long
will it work?
For most men, ATLAGRA will start
working in approximately 30 minutes
and lasting up to 4 hours – so
that you have enough time to be
intimate with your partner and
experience improved sexual
intercourse.
To achieve an erection, you still
need physical and mental
stimulation, and the desire to have
an erection.
Top
Q. How often can I take ATLAGRA?
The maximum recommended dosing
frequency is once a day.
Top
Q. What should I do if I forget a
dose?
Since you are taking ATLAGRA
for erectile dysfunction, you are
unlikely to miss a dose since this
medication is taken as needed, not
on a regular dosing schedule.
Top
Q. Can I take ATLAGRA with
alcohol, food or medicines?
With food:
You can take ATLAGRA with
or without food. However, if you
take ATLAGRA with a high-fat
meal, it will take longer for the
medication to start to work.
To get the fastest and best
results, it is recommended to take ATLAGRA
on an empty stomach or after eating
a light meal.
With alcohol:
Drinking alcohol can temporarily
impair the ability to get an
erection. To get the maximum benefit
from your medication, you are
advised not to drink large amounts
of alcohol before taking ATLAGRA.
With other medicines:
You should not take ATLAGRA
(Sildenafil Citrate) if you are
already taking any form of nitrates,
since the combination can make your
blood pressure suddenly drop to
unsafe levels. Nitrates are found in
many prescription medications that
are used to treat angina (medicines
for chest pain) such as:
- Sublingual Nitroglycerin
(sprays or oral tablets)
- Transdermal Nitroglycerin
(skin patches or ointments)
- Isosorbide mononitrate
& Isosorbide dinitrate
(tablets that are swallowed,
chewed or dissolved in the
mouth)
Nitrates are also found in
recreational drugs such as amyl
nitrate or butyl nitrate. If you are
not sure if any of your medications
contain nitrates, or if you do not
understand what nitrates are, ask
your healthcare provider or
pharmacist.

Q. What are the side effects of
ATLAGRA?
Like all medications, ATLAGRA
(Sildenafil Citrate) can cause some
temporary side effects. These are
usually mild and don’t last longer
than a few hours. The most common
side effects are headache, facial
flushing, and an upset stomach. It
may also briefly cause bluish or
blurred vision, or sensitivity to
light.
Call your doctor if you have any
unusual problems while you are
taking this medication.
Top
Q. What are the other special
precautions and safety information?
Before you start any treatment
with ATLAGRA (Sildenafil
Citrate), be sure to ask your
healthcare provider if your heart is
healthy enough.
Tell your doctor and pharmacist
if you are allergic to sildenafil or
any other medications.
Do not take ATLAGRA if you
are taking or have recently taken
nitrates (medications for chest
pain) such as Isosorbide dinitrate,
Isosorbide mononitrate, and
Nitroglycerin. Nitrates come as
tablets, sprays, patches, pastes,
and ointments. Ask your doctor if
you are not sure whether any of your
medications contain nitrates.
Do not take recreational drugs
containing nitrates such as amyl
nitrate and butyl nitrate while
taking ATLAGRA.
Be sure to tell your doctor if
you are taking prescription
medications containing alpha
blockers, certain anti-fungal,
anticoagulants, beta blockers,
erythromycin and medications for
high blood pressure. Your doctor may
need to change the dose of ATLAGRA
or monitor you carefully for
side effects.
Tell your doctor if you smoke, if
you have ever had an erection that
lasted for several hours, and if you
have recently lost a large amount of
body fluids (dehydration). This can
happen if you are sick with fever,
diarrhea, or vomiting; sweat a lot;
or do not drink enough liquids.
If you are having surgery, tell
your doctor that you are taking
sildenafil.
Inform your doctor if you have
any chest pain problems or heart
disease, prior to him prescribing ATLAGRA
for you. If you experience
chest pain, dizziness, or nausea
during sexual activity, call your
doctor immediately and avoid sexual
activity until your doctor advises
you otherwise.
Remember to protect yourself and
your partner from sexually
transmitted diseases.

work?
ATLAGRA (Sildenafil Citrate)
is a proven oral therapy to help men
with erectile dysfunction (ED)
achieve and maintain harder
erections. Even if you do not get
satisfactory results with the first
dose, there is no need to get
disheartened.
In some cases, ATLAGRA may
begin working the second or third
time. For others, a dose adjustment
may be enough to make all the
difference.
Your doctor is likely to start
you off with ATLAGRA 50mg,
but the dosage may be subsequently
reduced to 25mg or increased to
100mg based on your individual
results.
